Thesis Prep 2 - Collages
For the second round of collages, I reinterpreted the term “passage of time”. The idea with this new collage is that you can see what the building is now, but also what the building used to be. The glimpses into the past represent your memory of the place. (The building used in this image is the Old Corner Bookstore in Boston).
The other collage I decided to work on was with the...

Ice Typography
“A personal typographic experiment using ice.
The scope of personal typography experimentation is incredibly large. It’s anything you haven’t done before. The scope of experimental typography that will advance the field of Graphic Design and Typography is very small.”

Review of Guy Maddin’s film “My Winnipeg”. When I first saw the movie, I don’t think I really understood it fully so I’d actually like to view it again. It’s a “docu-fantasy”, where the narrator/director of the film is “stuck” in Winnipeg, where he’s lived all his life, and he tries to “film his way out”. There are many...

Thesis Prep 2 - Collages
First pass at creating collages based on words. Pretty successful but I need to work more in 3D/models to express ideas.
Passage of Time:
Seeing a building from many different points in time (night, day, rain, snow, fall, summer), plus the movie names changed when each photo was taken!
My least favorite/successful; trying to show how I believe the passage of time is felt through memories and...

One of my favorite directors, David Lynch, recently designed this night club in Paris. I don’t know if there are really any words to accurately describe David Lynch (well, “weird” probably works). You’d have to see a few of his movies first (I’d recommend Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart), watch some Twin Peaks, and then go to youtube and listen to some of his talks....

“take a picture of a picture from the past in the present. “
This makes me kind of sad - but I can’t help looking at them!

Derrida…asked me why architects should be interested in his work, since, he observed, “deconstruction is anti-form, anti-hierarchy, anti-structure-the opposite of all that architecture stands for.” “Precisely for this reason,” was my response. -Bernard Tschumi

I LOVE Zaha Hadid’s paintings - for the colors, geometries, lines, intersections, angles, the abstraction of architecture/buildings/urban views of cities. I think it’s a perfect combination of what I like in paintings. I don’t know how I feel about her architecture because I have never been in any buildings she’s designed. I am curious though - I’d hope it would...

I love houses that can transform. This is a really neat idea for areas that experience hurricanes often (Thanks to Irene, it’s getting me thinking about that stuff!).

Good for small spaces! I like that the bed has actual stairs leading up to it! Might make that bunk bed a little easier.
